I believe community involvement is an important part of learning and developing leadership skills, team work, and confidence. Through out my life I have been involved in many ways. For example in high school I was involved in Hamilton City events and tourism information. Once I graduated high school I decided to go and volunteer for 7 months around Canada with the Katimavik Youth Program. Since university I have volunteered with the Canadian Diabetes Association, MacGregor Park Garden Project, and different events with Sunnybrook RBC First Office for Injury Prevention and most currently I am a board member for Defence for Children International.

Katimavik is a youth volunteer program with the mission to prepare youth to become responsible citizens who make positive change in their lives and communities. In addition we developed our leadership, communication, and language skills.

The Botanicus Art Ensemble is a Community Arts Organization based in Toronto, Canada. We bring professional artists of various disciplines together with community members for the goal of shared creative expression. The exchange of ideas enhances the enjoyment of public space for everyone, and contributes to a connection with nature in the urban environment.

 

Macgregor Park Teaching Garden                          Food Security Program Advisor

  • Researched new financial sustainable strategies, including grants, fundraising, and business projects for the Teaching Garden Projects.

  • Assisted in the implementation of the program and the creation of communication strategies, increasing awareness of The Teaching Garden Project within the community, through the creation of informational bulletins, convocation of meetings, and organization and planning of community involvement activities.

The Canadian Diabetes Association leads the fight against diabetes by helping those affected by diabetes live healthy lives, preventing the onset and consequences of diabetes, and discovering a cure.
